Amarnath Yatra takes place every year during the months of July-August. Traditional route is via Pahalgam. However, another shorter route has now been opened through Baltal via Sonamarg. Laks of people participate in this Yatra and pay homage to the Snow Lingam Barfani Baba crossing the heights of more than 12,500 feet above sea level
